The Walt Disney Company Nearly Reaches Pre-Pandemic Employment Figures

We want you to get the most out of your ‘luxury villa’ stay in Solterra, Davenport (near Championsgate and just south of the Disney World Resort area). To help out, we have sourced the following blog post to keep you up to date with news from Walt Disney World Resort. Thanks to the guys over at Blog Mickey for the original post...

In a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, The Walt Disney Company says that they have nearly as many employees as they did before the COVID-19 pandemic required a workforce reduction.

In 2019, The Walt Disney Company had approximately 223,000 employees worldwide. Then, the COVID-19 pandemic hit and Disney’s worldwide employment figures dropped. By October 2020, the total workforce was down to 203,000, but layoffs were still yet to come in large numbers. In October 2021, The Walt Disney Company recorded 190,000 employees.

Now, with the domestic theme park business back up to speed and theatrical schedules normalized, The Walt Disney Company employs about 220,000 people worldwide – just 3,000 fewer than in 2019 prior to the pandemic.

While the employment figures are strong, there is currently a hiring freeze in place that current CEO Bob Iger does not plan to undo.
