TD9 Strengthens Into Tropical Storm Ian, Continues to Threaten Florida

We want you to get the most out of your ‘luxury villa’ stay in Solterra, Davenport (near Championsgate and just south of the Disney World Resort area). To help out, we have sourced the following blog post to keep you up to date with news from Walt Disney World Resort. Thanks to the guys over at Blog Mickey for the original post...

Last night, Tropical Depression 9 (TD9) strengthened into Tropical Storm Ian. It is expected that it will become a hurricane either later this weekend or early next week as it tracks towards a United States landfall in Florida. This morning, the National Hurricane Center (NHC) issued an 8am update with a track that trends ever so slightly further west, but still keeps the vast majority of the Florida peninsula in the cone of uncertainty.

Maximum sustained winds are near 45 mph (75 km/h) with higher gusts. Strengthening is forecast during the next few days, and Ian is expected to become a hurricane late Sunday or Sunday night.

Central Florida could see tropical storm winds by late Tuesday.

Disney World has not announced any modifications to operations as a result of Tropical Storm Ian, but we will continue to monitor the storm and any advisories from Disney.
