runDisney Volunteers Now Only Given Half-Day Tickets as Purse Strings Tighten at Disney

We want you to get the most out of your ‘luxury villa’ stay in Solterra, Davenport (near Championsgate and just south of the Disney World Resort area). To help out, we have sourced the following blog post to keep you up to date with news from Walt Disney World Resort. Thanks to the guys over at Blog Mickey for the original post...

According to a report from the Orlando Sentinel, runDisney is now only offering half-day tickets to people who volunteer to help with races at Disney World. The half-day tickets represent a downgrade from previous events where full-day tickets were offered as a thank you to people who volunteered.

runDisney heavily relies on volunteers, but the report said that there is still a shortage of roughly 1,800 volunteers for the upcoming Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend, with some volunteers electing not to return due to the change in complimentary ticket policy.

The change in policy went into effect starting with the 2022 Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend, and will be the policy going forward. The complimentary tickets do not allow entry into the Walt Disney World theme parks until 1pm.

Ousted CEO Bob Chapek implemented a hiring freeze and spending cutbacks before being fired. Newly reappointed CEO Bob Iger intends to continue the hiring freeze at the very least.
