Report: Chapek Leaves With Exit Package Likely Worth More Than $20 Million

We want you to get the most out of your ‘luxury villa’ stay in Solterra, Davenport (near Championsgate and just south of the Disney World Resort area). To help out, we have sourced the following blog post to keep you up to date with news from Walt Disney World Resort. Thanks to the guys over at Blog Mickey for the original post...

The dust is having a hard time settling after now-Disney CEO Bob Iger sent an email last night announcing his return to The Walt Disney Company. With news that the move to bring back Iger was completed in just days, there are a lot of unanswered questions remaining about the immediate and long-term plans for the Company. While the exact details of former Disney CEO Bob Chapek’s departure might take some time to be revealed, an analysis by Bloomberg suggests that Chapek will earn north of $20 million as part of his exit package.

The report from Bloomberg says that Chapek leaves “with exit payments and benefits that could be worth more than $23 million. That’s without including the millions more he could collect in the coming years if the company’s share price recovers. “

Bloomberg says that the $23 million figure was based on calculations by Bloomberg News and that Disney has not publically disclosed the financial terms of Chapek’s departure yet.

With Chapek’s contract recently extended, the terms of the contract allow him to collect paychecks even if he was fired or left early. Those paychecks should total $6.5 million.

Chapek is also entitled to a pension worth $16.9 million as of October 2021. Other financial benefits such as stock options (worth more than $3.5 million today) were not included in the math. Bloomberg also noted that Chapek has an additional compensation plan worth around $8.5 million as of last year, but that figure has likely gone down.

Again, none of this is finalized or announced by Disney. Also, the reason for Chapek’s departure was not included in any official communications. The Board may decide to adjust his payout based on any additional policies or commitments.
