New at Nomad: Churro Changes and Living with the Land Salad

We want you to get the most out of your ‘luxury villa’ stay in Solterra, Davenport (near Championsgate and just south of the Disney World Resort area). To help out, we have sourced the following blog post to keep you up to date with news from Walt Disney World Resort. Thanks to the guys over at Blog Mickey for the original post...

A trip to Walt Disney World doesn’t seem complete without a visit to Nomad Lounge at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. A relaxing venue along the Discovery River, and conveniently located just outside of the entrance to Pandora – The World of Avatar, Nomad Lounge has been a favorite of ours for years. Recently, we visited Nomad Lounge and found that Disney made a change (upgrade) to the famed churros as well as a new addition to the menu with ties to EPCOT. Let’s take a look!

Churros – $9

Served with vanilla crema, coffee creme Anglaise

A change has come to the churros! While the churros themselves remain the same (and the best at Walt Disney World), a new coffee creme Anglaise replaces the former strawberry dip.

The coffee creme Anglaise is an excellent change to the menu and pairs wonderfully with not only the churros but also the vanilla crema. As you might expect, coffee is the prevalent flavor, but there’s also a sweetness to the dip that keeps this in the dessert category. Our only complaint is that the dips were noticeably watery.

The Land Salad – $12

This Week’s Harvest of Young Lettuces and Vegetables from The Land Pavilion at EPCOT. Walnut-roasted Tomato Muhammara, Garlic Breadcrumbs, Feta, Sumac, Citrus Vinaigrette

Our server described this to us as a sort of secret menu offering, but really it’s just off of the appetizers menu from Tiffins. The Land Salad features a rotating weekly harvest of young lettuces and vegetables from The Land Pavilion at EPCOT!

As you might expect, the salad was noticeably fresh and we loved the novelty of being able to enjoy a salad sourced from EPCOT at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. That said, it wasn’t outstanding by any means and it definitely felt like an appetizer. Despite having a strong lineup of accompaniments, the salad fell short and the citrus vinaigrette wasn’t enough to carry it. Skippable.
