Hawaii Booth Review – 2022 EPCOT Food and Wine Festival

We want you to get the most out of your ‘luxury villa’ stay in Solterra, Davenport (near Championsgate and just south of the Disney World Resort area). To help out, we have sourced the following blog post to keep you up to date with news from Walt Disney World Resort. Thanks to the guys over at Blog Mickey for the original post...

Making its return this year is the Hawaii Global Marketplace! The booth is one of a handful that had a planned delayed opening and it opened earlier today. Hawaii is located near World Showcase Plaza and Port of Entry. Here’s our Hawaii booth review from the 2022 EPCOT Food and Wine Festival.

Hawaii Booth Review

Kālua Pork Slider – $5.75

With sweet-and-sour DOLE pineapple chutney and spicy mayonnaise

Rating: 3.5 out of 5.

A solid slider that is probably $0.75 overpriced. The sweet-and-sour DOLE pineapple chutney was nice and fresh while the pulled pork was soft and the spicy mayo added a nice kick to the dish. Doesn’t rise to the left of a 4-star dish, but certainly better than middle-of-the-road.

SPAM Musubi Nigiri (NEW 2022) – $6.00

With sushi rice, teriyaki-glazed SPAM, spicy mayonnaise, eel sauce, and nori

Rating: 3.5 out of 5.

Ah yes, SPAM sushi. A restrained SPAM dish is essentially bologna sushi, depending on your opinion of SPAM. We’re not huge fans, but actually found ourselves going back for more bites thanks to the spicy mayo and eel sauce, combined with a rather small portion of SPAM. We probably won’t get it again, but can certainly appreciate this version of SPAM.

Passion Fruit Cheesecake – $4.50

With toasted macadamia nuts (Emile’s Fromage Montage)

Rating: 4 out of 5.

A classic cheesecake texture is combined with a fresh passion fruit flavor that made the dessert nice and sweet. The toasted macadamia nuts were a nice addition to break up the light texture of the cheesecake.

Beverages

  • Kona Brewing Co. Hanalei Island IPA – $5/9 (6/12oz)
  • Florida Orange Groves Sparkling Pineapple Wine – $10.00
  • AULANI Sunrise: Vodka, DOLE pineapple juice, and grenadine – $14.00

Hawaii is a good booth with some good dishes. The SPAM sushi is bound to be a conversation starter, and with only a modest amount of SPAM, it might be worth a shot! We were hoping for a bit more from the slider, and perhaps you’ll have a different opinion (or a larger portion). The cheesecake hit the spot on a warm August afternoon.
