We want you to get the most out of your ‘luxury villa’ stay in Solterra, Davenport (near Championsgate and just south of the Disney World Resort area). To help out, we have sourced the following blog post to keep you up to date with news from Walt Disney World Resort. Thanks to the guys over at Universal Orlando for the original post...
I remember how excited I was to bring my friends and family to Universal’s Islands of Adventure for the first time. I loved pointing out the details and complexity of each of the eight Islands, with every element adding to the immersion. Seuss Landing was always a crowd favorite — the bright colors, fun music, and the almost complete absence of straight lines never failed to capture the imaginations of my guests. Even today, the recreation of Dr. Seuss’s whimsical illustrations draws fans of all ages into the land.
The beauty of Seuss Landing is that it truly has experiences for every member of the family, and that’s also true of the merchandise throughout the Island. Who will you be shopping for during your visit? Whether it’s you, someone visiting with you, or someone you’re thinking of back home, this guide will help you identify some fun and unique ways to take your love of Seuss Landing with you. Here are some gift and souvenir ideas sure to please every Sneetch on the beach.
Ideas for Theme Park Fans
The Cat in The Hat attraction opened with Islands of Adventure back in 1999, and countless families (including my own!) have made fun memories on this ride. Looking for something to commemorate your adventure experiencing the retelling of this classic story? Check out Cats, Hats and Things at the attraction exit! It has “Thing”-themed merchandise for every member of your crew (more on that below), and I particularly like the Dr. Seuss Loungefly backpacks and wallets — they perfectly illustrate the excitement of the ride while being simple enough to go with any outfit.
Ideas for Birthday Honorees
Speaking of those “Things”, if a young member of your group is celebrating a birthday, the adorable and festive Birthday Thing T-shirt (paired with a birthday button from Guest Services, of course!) is a great way to make sure the day is extra memorable. You can find it at Cats, Hats and Things all year long. My runner-up favorite “Thing” merchandise is the “Teacher of all Things” t-shirt and mug. What a special way to recognize the educators in your life and highlight the impact they make on their students.
Ideas for Young Readers
All The Books You Can Read, located between Circus McGurkus Cafe Stoo-pendous and The High in the Sky Seuss Trolley Train Ride! ,is the perfect shop for readersthat are both young and young-at-heart. Need some inspiration on what titles to buy? You can catch story time with some of the most popular Dr. Seuss characters at Oh! The Stories You’ll Hear! right outside the store throughout the day. Check the Universal Orlando Resort App for show times!
Ideas for Star Seekers
If you or someone in your group can’t wait to meet all of the Universal characters during your day in the park, portable notepad and pen sets are perfect to collect autographs. The carrying case keeps your souvenir dry and easy to reach when you spot a favorite character taking photos. I also love that the notepad sets are unique to Seuss Landing at Islands of Adventure, making this the only place in the world that you can pick one up! Use any extra pages to write about your day or note the things you want to see on your next visit to the Park.
Ideas for Animal Lovers
Looking for a unique experience for an animal lover? Try “What Pet Should I Get?” at All The Books You Can Read. Look through the adorable, adoptable Seuss-style plush characters and you’ll receive an adoption certificate and special take-home carrier for your new friend. I don’t think I can pick just one!
My other favorite idea for animal lovers who already have pets at home is the variety of Thing 1 and Thing 2 animal apparel available! Offered in multiple sizes and styles, these stylish outfits would be particularly cute for family portraits. The pet parents can even pick up matching “Thing” shirts for themselves!
Ideas for Game Players
We all know someone (or are someone) with a competitive streak. The game selection at Mulberry Street Store has fun options for all ages featuring some of Dr. Seuss’ most famous titles. I think the Magna-Tiles set based on Green Eggs and Ham, my personal favorite Dr. Seuss book, is a great option for younger children to use during interactive story time. The Stack with the Cat game allows players to practice balance and creativity while recreating one of my favorite scenes from The Cat in The Hat attraction, too!
Ideas for Character Cuddlers
I am a softy for plushies. There is nothing as comforting as walking around a busy theme park with a super soft, super cute souvenir to keep me company. Seuss Landing has the softest AND cutest plush options and there are so many to choose from! I love the selection at Cats, Hats and Things, but I think my favorite plush on the island is Max, the Grinch’s adorable dog. As one of the most memorable characters in “How the Grinch Stole Christmas!”, bringing home the Max plush will warm your heart — no matter the size! — every month of the year.
Ideas for Playful Grouches
Some days you want the world to know you woke up on the wrong side of the bed. Fortunately, Seuss Landing has a variety of options to let your grumpiness show by wearing Grinch apparel. For colder months, I love the matching fleece hat, scarf, and gloves combination in the most perfectly Grinch-like green. If that combination isn’t enough to send the message that you’re having a bad day, consider the full-length Grinch onesie pajamas, complete with his mischievous eyes on the hood! The pajamas come in sizes for children and adults, in case the whole family wants to be Grinch-y together. And just to make sure you have options to cover you head to toe, don’t forget to pick up a pair of Grinch cozy socks to complete your outfit!
Bonus Treat: Ideas for Sweet Tooths
Anyone with a taste for sweets will find something irresistible in Snookers & Snookers Sweet Candy Cookers, located next to the entrance to The High in the Sky Seuss Trolley Train Ride!. The colorful and enticing store offers all kinds of take-home treats, but my favorites can be found in the specialty bake cases. The Cat in the Hat cupcake, with chocolate cake and a huge white and red hat on top, is the kind of dessert only found at a Universal Theme Park. Looking for a pair of treats? You can get cupcakes for both your Thing 1 AND Thing 2!
Next time you visit Seuss Landing, remember all the great merchandise options for every member of your squad. Do you have other Seuss merchandise favorites? Tell me about them in the comments!
