Futuristic Lights, Landscape & Hardscape Added to TRON Lightcycle Run Courtyard at Magic Kingdom

We want you to get the most out of your ‘luxury villa’ stay in Solterra, Davenport (near Championsgate and just south of the Disney World Resort area). To help out, we have sourced the following blog post to keep you up to date with news from Walt Disney World Resort. Thanks to the guys over at Blog Mickey for the original post...

Like an HOA project requiring too many signatures for the smallest task, TRON Lightcycle Run construction continues at a snail’s pace as Disney builds at the speed of marketing. Some 1,700+ days since land clearing for the TRON roller coaster began, Disney is working on a few hardscape projects and some electrical work. We understand that the ride is functionally complete as Disney holds the TRON Lightcycle Run roller coaster for a Spring 2023 opening as part of the final wave of marketing for the end of the 50th Anniversary.

After watching the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds fly over Main Street USA, we jumped on the Tomorrowland PeopleMover to find that there is some progress to report in the TRON Lightcycle Run courtyard. Since we last checked in, more hardscape work has been done as well as the arrival of a lot of landscaping. We were most excited to find futuristic lighting has been installed in the courtyard. Here’s a look around!

We’ll start with a few overview photos to get our bearings.

On our first pass through the site, we can see just how much landscaping has been added in recent weeks with more of the hardscape now complete in the courtyard. The train shouldn’t be too visible from the courtyard.

This entire area should be backstage once the project is finished.

Let’s take a closer look at the futuristic and sleek lighting that has been installed in the courtyard recently.

Electrical work is taking place on the ramp toward the attraction.

A group of Imagineers was also present on the construction site.

Here’s a closer look at the new landscaping.

Looking past the landscaping, we can see some new hardscape being installed in an area between the TRON Lightcycle Run courtyard and Storybook Circus. We’re not sure what this area will be, but it could be an alternate walkway between Tomorrowland and Storybook Circus.

There is already a pathway underneath the entrance ramp that was thought to be the walkway to Storybook Circus, but perhaps it’s backstage access of some sort.

TRON Lightcycle Run will open in Spring 2023, according to Disney Parks Chairman Josh D’Amaro.
