After our disappointing experience with the MagicBand+ during Disney Enchantment at Magic Kingdom, we decided to head over to EPCOT and see how to Disney’s newest wearable interacted with the Harmonious nighttime spectacular fireworks show. To our delight, the MagicBand+ is much more active during Harmonious, even synchronizing to specific barge effects at certain points. The MagicBand+ felt like it was an inconvenience to the Disney Entertainment team at Magic Kingdom – doing nothing during 77% of the show. By contrast, the MagicBand+ is activated during 66% of Harmonious.
At EPCOT, the MagicBand+ felt like a priority for Harmonious, with Disney taking care to ensure that the wearable device plays along with the show much like you’d expect from Disney’s old Glow with the Show tech. Of course, unless you’ve seen it a few times already, you’ll probably want to focus more on Harmonious than on the MagicBand+ on your wrist. Guests around us would glance at their wrists occasionally and get excited during segments where the MagicBand+ was more active, but otherwise focused on the show.
