Disney World Entertainment Schedules Might Indicate Holiday Special Filming Dates at Magic Kingdom

We want you to get the most out of your ‘luxury villa’ stay in Solterra, Davenport (near Championsgate and just south of the Disney World Resort area). To help out, we have sourced the following blog post to keep you up to date with news from Walt Disney World Resort. Thanks to the guys over at Blog Mickey for the original post...

With Disney World filling out its entertainment schedule at Magic Kingdom through early December, some dates are sticking out as possible Disney Parks Holiday Special filming dates due to adjusted or canceled entertainment. The following is speculation based on observation – Disney has not formally announced any of its Disney Parks Holiday Special filming plans.

If you are visiting Magic Kingdom and looking to get a sneak peek at filming, we would circle the following dates…in pencil: November 12th and November 13th. On those dates, the Disney Festival of Fantasy Parade is only scheduled to run once, and at an unusual time of 2pm (instead of noon or 3pm). Additionally, both the Mickey’s Celebration Cavalcade and the Disney Adventure Friends Cavalcade have canceled performances for those dates. Mickey’s Magical Friendship Faire has also canceled performances on November 12th and 13th.

Again, we should stress that this is speculation and not confirmed by Disney World. Also, it’s worth noting that what will actually be filmed at Walt Disney World remains a mystery. Musical acts and other synergy activations are typically included with the Disney Parks Holiday Special in addition to a parade.

So, what can you expect during the Disney Parks Holiday Special taping if you’re in Magic Kingdom or any other park that might have some taping going on? Typically you won’t be able to walk right up and watch the taping. A perimeter is established to ensure that the crowd that is on camera is the crowd that Disney wants to show. That typically means offering energetic off-duty Cast Members the first opportunity to be in the shot, while very limited standby may be offered to day guests. That said, you can always watch from a distance throughout areas of the park that aren’t roped off.

When we learn more about the Disney Parks Holiday Special taping plans, we’ll be sure to share them here.
