Disney CEO Bob Iger Comments on Speculated Sale of The Walt Disney Company to Apple

In an investor call this afternoon, Disney CEO Bob Iger was asked about recent reports that Disney could be sold to Apple. Iger did not shoot down the possibility at all. Iger’s comments were certainly not nearly as strong as they were last November when he called similar reports “pure speculation” and “not rooted in fact”.

Here are Iger’s comments from today’s investor call:

…I’m not going to speculate about the potential for Disney to be acquired by any company, whether it’s a technology company or not. Obviously, anyone who wants to speculate about such things would have to immediately consider the global regulatory environment. I’ll say no more than that. It’s not something that we obsess about.

In his biography, The Ride of a Lifetime, Iger said that if Apple co-founder Steve Jobs were alive today, Iger believes that Apple and Disney would’ve merged by now, or at least had very serious discussions.
