Disney Asks High School Band To Cover Up Native American Logo, Magic Kingdom Performance Canceled After School Refuses

We want you to get the most out of your ‘luxury villa’ stay in Solterra, Davenport (near Championsgate and just south of the Disney World Resort area). To help out, we have sourced the following blog post to keep you up to date with news from Walt Disney World Resort. Thanks to the guys over at Blog Mickey for the original post...

A report from the Herald-Tribune says that the Venice High School band will not be performing at Magic Kingdom after refusing Disney’s request to cover their logo, which contains Native American imagery.

Venice High Principal Zoltan Kerestely notified parents that the band would not be performing on November 12th after asking Disney twice to reconsider their request that the logo be covered.

“Our band deserves to be honored and celebrated without having to change our name or cover our identity,” Kerestely wrote. “When I see them perform, I am filled with pride and admiration for the work each student, Mr. Wing, and parents put into the program.”

Earlier this year, Disney World came under fire after a performance by Port Neches-Groves High School that contained a racist chant. In the March 2022 statement, Disney said that they immediately put measures in place to prevent something like that from happening again, and this report seems to back up that claim.
