]]>After an initial wave of holiday decor installation a couple of days ago, the rest of the Toy Story Land holiday decor has been installed. In addition, both Slinky Dog Dash and Alien Swirling Saucers have activated their holiday enhancements!

Here’s a look at the newly installed decor and video of the attraction enhancements.

Here’s a look back at some of the previously installed decor from our last update.

When we swung by earlier today, Woody, Jessie, and Buzz Lightyear were still meeting in their standard costumes. Cast Members were unsure if or when they’d meet in their holiday costumes.

At Alien Swirling Saucers, one of two holiday jingles plays every third song alongside the standard songs. At Slinky Dog Dash, you can hear jingle bells play as Slinky zips by. Here’s a video!

]]>A report released by Unite Here Local 737 paints a grim picture of the situation for Central Florida tourism workers. The report surveyed 2,415 hourly tourism workers at 6 different employers, including Walt Disney World, about the cost of living in Florida. In the past year, respondents reported that:

 • 69% have not had the money to pay rent or mortgage
 • 42% had relationship or family problems because of stress about money
 • 45% skipped meals
 • 62% have less than $100 in savings (less than the cheapest one-day ticket to Disney World)

The cost of living has increased significantly in Central Florida – up 23.7% in the past year alone in the Orlando metro area. While the report notes that Disney World increased wages to $15/hr in 2021, workers need a minimum of $18/hr to make ends meet now.

As BlogMickey.com has been reporting since late August, Disney World and the Service Trades Council Union (STCU) are in negotiations over wages and other topics. The STCU represents more than 41,000 Disney World Cast Members, and while some progress has been made on select topics, issues such as wages and healthcare remain at an impasse. Disney World and the STCU will resume negotiations at the end of November.

The report from Local 737 relied on third-party data such as the MIT Living Wage Calculator, which says that an adult with no dependants needs to make at least $18.19/hr to reach a living wage. Combined with a “housing emergency” as declared by the Orange County Commission and general inflation, the report concludes that tourism workers need an immediate increase in wages.

Disney World’s initial offer on wage increases was $1 per year over the next five years – reaching a $20 minimum wage in 2027. The union’s initial stance was a $5 increase over the next 3 years – reaching a $20 minimum wage in 2025.

A graph from the report shows that in 2019, Disney World was paying a minimum wage of $13/hr – slightly above the living wage of $12.70 at the time. Since then, the agreed-upon raises for a contract ending in October 2022 did not meet the rise in the cost of living. The current minimum wage of $15 at Disney World is below the $18.19 living wage as calculated by MIT.

Simply put, Disney World Cast Members can’t afford to live in Central Florida, falling roughly $530 short each month on average, for food, rent, and car expenses. The situation only gets worse for a married couple working at Disney World.

On the other side of the equation, Disney World is recording record profits. An earnings call is scheduled for November 8th where Disney will share fiscal 2022 profits.

Disney Parks Records $7.4 Billion Revenue in Third Quarter 2022

]]>Ahead of the November 8th start of Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party at Magic Kingdom, we have the entertainment showtimes available for your planning needs. From snow on Main Street USA to Yuletide fireworks above Cinderella Castle, it’s the most wonderful time of the year to visit Walt Disney World, and Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party turns the holiday cheer up as guests party the night away at Magic Kingdom during this separately-ticketed event. Here’s a look at the entertainment lineup and schedules that guests can expect during the party!

Minnie’s Wonderful Christmastime Fireworks

Showtime: 10pm
Location: Anywhere in Magic Kingdom, best views from Main Street USA

Minnie’s Wonderful Christmastime Fireworks show, hosted by the one-and-only Minnie Mouse, celebrates the magic of Christmas with medleys of beloved holiday songs, from “Joy to the World” and “Deck the Halls” to “Up on the House Top” and “We Wish You A Merry Christmas.” The holiday music aims to evoke heartfelt moments of home and family, as well as the festive fun of the season.

The show contains projection-mapped scenes and decor on Cinderella Castle, timed nicely to the music and fireworks to create a classic new-age Magic Kingdom nighttime spectacular. The show contains melodies of beloved holiday songs that put you in the Christmas mood and combine them with an impressive projection mapping and firework display.

Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade

Showtimes: 8:30pm, 11pm
Location: Normal Magic Kingdom parade route

Delight in an entertaining display chock-full of good cheer on Main Street USA. The legendary street comes alive with yuletide spirit on select nights during Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party! Snap memorable photos of dancing gingerbread men, marching toy soldiers and beloved Disney Characters as they float by, waving hello. There’s even a special appearance by Santa Claus—riding in to wish everyone a Merry Christmas. The parade steps off in Frontierland, eventually making its way past Cinderella Castle and down Main Street USA under a blanket of snow.

Mickey’s Most Merriest Celebration

Showtimes: 7:40pm, 9:25pm, 10:35pm, 11:55pm
Location: Cinderella Castle stage

Mickey’s Most Merriest Celebration stage show, which debuted in 2016, finds Mickey and his pals inviting some of their friends over for an unforgettable Christmas party filled with music, dancing, color and fun! With every ring of the doorbell, more special guests drop by to join the festivities, each bringing a song or two in their own unique style. Clarabelle Cow arrives in full diva fashion belting out a holiday pop favorite, and Woody and Jessie ride in for a ho-ho-hoedown with country Christmas tunes. Donald’s amigos, Jose and Panchito from “The Three Caballeros,” stop in to wish everyone Feliz Navidad, and a flurry of friends from Fantasyland – everyone from Snow White and Dopey to Peter Pan and Wendy – fills the house for even more fun.

A Totally Tomorrowland Christmas

Showtimes: TBA (2019 times: 7:45pm, 8:35pm, 9:25pm, 10:45pm, and 11:35pm)
Location: Rockettower Plaza Stage in Tomorrowland

This easily accessible stage show combines unique costumes with some better-than-expected entertainment as Tomorrowland friends (Buzz Lightyear, Stitch, and Mike Wazowski) host an out-of-this-world Christmas party. Because Tomorrowland is so attraction overlay heavy this year, we anticipate you’ll be in Tomorrowland a lot during the party. If you’re around, this show should be very easy to catch by simply walking up when it starts. We enjoyed the show for its unique costuming and ease of access.

Club Tinsel and Disney Junior Jingle Jam Dance Parties

Showtimes: 7pm to 12am
Locations: Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe & Storybook Circus

In addition to the above entertainment that is on a schedule, there are two dance parties that take place in Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe (Club Tinsel) and Storybook Circus (Disney Junior Jingle Jam). The dance parties are open during the duration of the party and are easily accessible. A wonderful option for your little one to burn off some of the sugary treats.

Reindeer Wranglers

Showtimes: 7:15pm, 8:05pm, 9:30pm, 10:30pm, 11:40pm
Locations: Frontierland in front of Country Bear Jamoboree

Sing along with the Reindeer Wranglers as the Dapper Dans share their favorite holiday tunes in Frontierland.

]]>A report from the Herald-Tribune says that the Venice High School band will not be performing at Magic Kingdom after refusing Disney’s request to cover their logo, which contains Native American imagery.

Venice High Principal Zoltan Kerestely notified parents that the band would not be performing on November 12th after asking Disney twice to reconsider their request that the logo be covered.

“Our band deserves to be honored and celebrated without having to change our name or cover our identity,” Kerestely wrote. “When I see them perform, I am filled with pride and admiration for the work each student, Mr. Wing, and parents put into the program.”

Earlier this year, Disney World came under fire after a performance by Port Neches-Groves High School that contained a racist chant. In the March 2022 statement, Disney said that they immediately put measures in place to prevent something like that from happening again, and this report seems to back up that claim.

The post List of Disney World Gingerbread Displays (With Opening Dates) appeared first on BlogMickey.com – Disney World News, Photos, and Info.

]]>Disney has just released a list of the Gingerbread displays that you can find at Disney World this year. Here’s the announcement:

Over at Walt Disney World Resort, there are multiple displays to be explored at various resorts. Let’s kick things off with the most famous house of all – the gingerbread house at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. Beginning November 9, you can view clouds of cinnamon billowing out of the chimney of this life-sized storybook gingerbread house made from a classic Austrian recipe. This house is adorned with white chocolate, candy canes, edible snowflakes, sugar poinsettias, and 25 – yes, 25 – hidden Mickeys! Along the porches, you’ll find an 85-pound chocolate Santa, nutcrackers, toy soldiers, and snowmen that have all been hand-painted by the Grand Floridian Bakery team.

As the 50th Anniversary celebration at Walt Disney World Resort continues, this year’s displays will feature colors and accents inspired by the signature EARidescent look. You can even get limited edition pins, mugs, holiday ornaments, and treats! Some of the goodies you can purchase from the Gingerbread House include:

 • Freshly baked, homemade items, such as Gingerbread Mickeys and Shingles, Stollen Bread, Brownie Christmas Tree, and Chocolate Peppermint Bark
 • House-made Gingerbread Ornaments and Gingerbread Houses
 • New items like the Gingerbread Latte Whoopie Pie and Hot Cocoa Bombs
 • Assorted Gingerbread Cookie Bags, Marshmallow Pops, and Caramel Pecan Fudge Bar
 • Gluten-friendly, plant-based, and no sugar added treats
 • Grand Floridian Combo Box featuring assorted fan favorite treats, including the Chocolate Mickey Ornament, exclusive to the Combo Box

Let’s take an adventure over to Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, which on November 23 will be home to a wild display – a Life-sized Baby Gingerbread Giraffe and Baby Zebra. This year continues the new tradition begun last year with a life-sized baby giraffe, or should we say gingeraffe! In addition to this gingerbread guest, there’s a new animal grazing into the lobby. You’ll soon be able to see an adorable life-sized baby zebra – made of gingerbread, of course. Starting December 6, you can even purchase a Gingeraffe Cookie to enjoy!

Over in the lobby of Disney’s Beach Club Resort, a holiday classic has returned. Since 1999, this resort has been home to the life-sized carousel. Did I mention that it actually spins? This carousel and its horses are masterfully created with chocolate, sugar, and fondant along with hand-painted characters and hand-crafted gingerbread shingles and snowflakes decorating the display. What makes this year even more special is that all the horses celebrate a different Disney princess. See if you can guess who each one represents! Commemorate your holiday viewing with limited edition pins, mugs, holiday ornaments and treats including:

 • Signature Stollen Bread
 • Candied Pecans (Plant-based)
 • Trio of Fudge
 • Chocolate Covered Marshmallow Snowman
 • Crispy Rice Treat
 • Chocolate Mickey Cookie (New)
 • Peppermint Bark
 • Gingerbread Shingle
 • Chocolate Gingerbread Cookie (Gluten-Friendly)
 • Gingerbread Cookie (Gluten-Friendly)

Across the way, Disney’s BoardWalk Inn is shore to impress with its display, which will be returning on November 17. This incredible gingerbread creation is a miniature, edible version of your favorite spot along Crescent Lake – the BoardWalk Deli! Before leaving, be sure to check out some of the treats you can take home with you, like:

 • Mickey and Minnie Sugar Cookies
 • BoardWalk Mickey Sugar Cookie (New)
 • Giant Gingerbread Mickey Cookie (New)
 • Gluten-Friendly & Plant-based Gingerbread Mickey Cookie
 • Artisan Peppermint Marshmallows (New)
 • Carnival Bark (New)
 • Gingerbread Frost Cocktail

]]>Fantasmic is back! The classic battle of good versus evil continues in the Hollywood Hills Amphitheater as Mickey dreams a fantastic dream that now includes new characters from Frozen, Moana, and Mulan, among other updates that bring an enhanced lighting package to the show. Massive crowds descended upon Disney’s Hollywood Studios as guests tried to be among the first to see the show after years of closure and months of delays. In this article, we’ll take a look at the new show and offer some initial reactions to the changes.

We’ll start outside of the Hollywood Hills Amphitheater on Sunset Blvd where thousands of guests lined up in a matter of minutes as Cast Members did their best to control crowds. As we noted in our “How to Watch Fantasmic” article, Cast Members were not allowing guests to line up early due to restrictions on how a shared queue with the nearby Beauty and the Beast show could be used. Instead, guests flooded Sunset Blvd and were allowed entry into the first sections of the official queue for Fantasmic around 5:35pm yesterday. We’ll be attending Fantasmic a few times over the coming days to get a better idea of how it might fit into your overall plan at Hollywood Studios and when to arrive. Suffice it to say that you’ll have to devote at least a couple of hours of waiting in line during the reopening period.

Once Cast Members began allowing guests to fill in the queue for Fantasmic, things were pretty smooth. We were held for about 10 minutes at two different hold points before being let into the Hollywood Hills Amphitheater around 6:05pm. From there, Cast Members directed the initial wave of guests into a center-ish section. There was a reserved seating area in the dead center of the amphitheater, but that was likely only for the return show. With no Genie+ Lightning Lane access, and no dinner packages until later this month, the vast majority of the 6,300-person seating area should be utilized by standby guests. There is an additional 3,000-person standing room capacity in the theater as well.

There were two showtimes last night – 8pm and 9:30pm. The 8pm show ran only a few minutes behind as guests were seated, but the 9:30pm show was 20 minutes late as operations struggled to clear the theater after the first show, and didn’t seat guests on time for the second show. We anticipate that operations for the show will improve as Cast Members get back into the swing of things.

As the lights dimmed for the first time in more than two years, lighting effects were the first indication that the show has received some much-needed tech improvements. Spotlights roamed the stage before an iconic swell of music and the appearance of Mickey Mouse, front and center.

The opening number is exactly as you’d remember, with some lighting enhancements. Water plays a big part in the show, with water screens playing clips from some of Disney’s animated films. A burst of pyro from Mickey’s gloves kicks off the show, and last night the crowd was electric during the nostalgic and new moments in the show.

Sorcerer Mickey throws water around the theater before the show catches its breath for a moment before jumping into a Lion King section with blacklight animals and energetic monkeys passing by on floats.

Another bit of clips takes us to the next section of the show, which is completely new. Disney removed an extended Pocahontas scene and replaced it with a heroes section that starts with a focus on Pocahontas and removal of the colonial invasion.

A quick transition takes us to a fight scene featuring Mulan!

Next up is an extended scene for Aladdin that involves two swinging maneuvers and some impressive trampoline work from the bad guys in pursuit of Aladdin.

The next new segment is a Frozen segment, and more specifically a Frozen 2 segment featuring Elsa singing “Show Yourself”.

Perhaps the most natural fit of the new scenes is Moana as she breaks past the stage and jumps right into the water! Impressive use of laser projections uses the water curtain to great effect as Moana sings “I Am Moana”.

Moana wraps up the hero section before we jump into the classic princesses section with pairs of characters on floats. The three couples are Belle/Beast, Ariel/Eric, and Snow White/The Prince.

After 18 minutes, it’s finally time to introduce some villains. We start with The Evil Queen as she summons villains to turn Mickey’s dream into a nightmare.

A giant snake takes the stage and chases Mickey Mouse around before he finds a magic lamp and only compounds his nightmare by rubbing it and releasing even more villains.

Finally, Maleficent arrives in particularly evil fashion, summoning her dragon form before Mickey decides to take back the power of his own dream and defeat the evil!

The finale segment features Steamboat Willie Mickey and all of the heroes and friends that helped Mickey along the journey.

Sorcerer Mickey closes out the show with a bang!
