Australia Booth Review – 2022 EPCOT Food and Wine Festival

We want you to get the most out of your ‘luxury villa’ stay in Solterra, Davenport (near Championsgate and just south of the Disney World Resort area). To help out, we have sourced the following blog post to keep you up to date with news from Walt Disney World Resort. Thanks to the guys over at Blog Mickey for the original post...

Making its return this year is the Australia Global Marketplace between Port of Entry and the Canada Pavilion. Australia has returning dishes this year and we made our way out to EPCOT recently to give it a try! Here’s our Australia booth review from the 2022 EPCOT Food and Wine Festival.

Australia Booth Review

Grilled Sweet-and-Spicy Bush Berry Shrimp – $6.50

Served with pineapple, pepper, onion, and snap peas

Rating: 3.5 out of 5.

First up is a classic shrimp and veggies dish. Three perfectly cooked shrimp might end up looking more flavorful than they actually are. A good portion of veggies sits underneath and demands that you take a scoop with each bite of shrimp. It’s not a bad dish by any means, but it’s not exactly inspired enough for us to get it again this year. Perhaps if there was more flavor on the shrimp we could be tempted.

Roasted Lamb Chop – $8.25

Served with mint pesto and potato crunchies

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

Lamb Chop and…potato chips? At $8.25, this registers on the high end of Festival pricing, and it almost is worth it. A big enough lamp chop is perfectly tender and the mint pesto sauce is some of the best we’ve ever had.

Here’s a look beneath the “potato crunchies”, which add some texture to the dish, but nothing more. We think that this should be just under $8, but it really is a good portion and the mint pesto is absolutely delicious. The price is the only thing holding this back from being a 5-star dish.

Lamington (NEW 2022) – $4.50

Yellow cake with raspberry filling dipped in chocolate and coconut

Rating: 5 out of 5.

A yellow sponge cake is carried by the delicious raspberry filling. A chocolate exterior pairs wonderfully with the raspberry filling, and coconut on top was a nice touch. We can’t find anything to knock here and think that the Lamington alone might we worth a stop at the Australia booth.

Beverages

  • Coopers Brewery Pacific Pale Ale – $5/9 (6/12oz)
  • Yalumba ‘Y’ Viognier, South Australia – $6.00
  • Robert Oatley Chardonnay, Margaret River, Australia – $6.00
  • Château Tanunda Grand Barossa Cabernet Sauvignon, Barossa Valley, Australia – $6.00
  • Jansz Premium Rosé, Tasmania – $8.50
  • Wine Flight – $6.50

Australia remains a solid option with some good dishes, but it’s probably overpriced just enough to earn a skip unless you’re going just for the Lamington (not a bad idea)!
