Athletes Had a ‘Ball’ Celebrating Pixar During the 2023 runDisney Springtime Surprise Weekend!

We want you to get the most out of your ‘luxury villa’ stay in Solterra, Davenport (near Championsgate and just south of the Disney World Resort area). To help out, we have sourced the following blog post to keep you up to date with news from Walt Disney World Resort. Thanks to the guys over at Disney Parks for the original post...

It was a TOY-riffic final race weekend of the 2022-2023 season during the 2023 runDisney Springtime Surprise Weekend! Participants grabbed their rootinest, tootinest crew and had a friend in the finish line as they celebrated Pixar and the power of friendship. Spanning four days filled with three race events, including a multi-race challenge, and early morning yoga, athletes weren’t toyin’ around for the final events of the season.

Starting off the weekend
was a star-studded early morning full of character as runDisney
Springtime Surprise Yoga took to Disney’s Hollywood Studios for the first time.
Participants found their balance and started their race weekends in a peaceful
state of mind, amid the glitz and glimmer of Hollywood Boulevard.

Athletes saddled up and raced like the wind through three endurance runs and a multi-race challenge during the race weekend. There was no shortage of runDisney style out on the course with many participants breaking out their best thematic race day wear!

Speaking of flying through the course, it was a galactic celebration at the finish line as first-time runDisney participant Nolan McKenna of Winfield, IL raced away with victory at the Disney Pixar Toy Story 10-Miler. With a winning time of 54:49, McKenna finished more than three minutes ahead of the second-place finisher. “This is a great stepping stone [race],” McKenna said. “This plays perfectly into my training and everything, so I’m very happy with it.”

In the women’s division, Emily Wolfarth of Mars, PA finished first with a time of 1:05:37, narrowly beating the second-place finisher by five seconds. “I said [to myself], I’m not going to start kicking it until I see the finish line because I’ve kicked it too early before,” Wolfarth said. “And I was like, I just got to see that finish line and then start picking it up.”

The runDisney Springtime Surprise Weekend closes out the final race weekend in the 2022-2023 race season. A big congratulations to all the weekend runners! Don’t miss out on more runDisney fun this summer with the recently announced summer Virtual Series celebrating Disney100 featuring Mickey through the Years.
